Good morning everyone and happy Monday!
Summer is moving fast and with August upon us, there’s one month left to chill out, soak up the sun and get into your best summer shape. You’d be amazed at the fitness you have the potential to achieve in a short period of time.
I recently received a note from a viewer who told me he’d lost 50 pounds from following the advice on my videos! Amazing, huh? It gave me the idea to put together a compilation blog to help those of you out there looking to lose a few pounds.
If you’re feeling motivated and committed to getting a handle on your weight and health, there’s so much you can do!
The first step is to stabilize your blood sugar. Trying to lose weight without this important metabolic dynamic in place will leave you struggling with your cravings and appetite. There are certain foods you can eat and supplements you can take to achieve this and engaging them can help knock a pound or two off your weight before you’ve even started exercising or reducing portions.
Practicing these habits will help reduce your cravings and appetite in about three to seven days. During this time you want to strategize and consider what additional changes you want to make to get to your goals. Are you considering a low-carb diet or a low-fat diet? Which would be best for you? Not everyone does well on low-carb diets yet low fat diets can be challenging to sustain. While reducing carbs is better for supporting a stable metabolism, it’s important to approach it mindfully so you don’t end up eating pounds of protein with few vegetables.
Maybe you want to take a gentle approach and adjust certain aspects of your diet that may be problematic, like the liquids you consume. If you enjoy wine at night and coffee during the day, or you drink a lot of soda or juice, making changes in this area alone can have a huge impact on your weight. Diet sodas are no better. Studies show that these artificial sweeteners can have the same impact on belly fat and metabolism as sugary drinks. What’s important to understand is that liquid calories can be a big saboteur to your goals.
Mindfulness and moderation are key components to organizing and practicing healthy eating habits, so research your best options before getting started. The goal is to embrace a plan that fits into your lifestyle and feels sustainable. You want to avoid the dieter’s mentality of being “on” or “off” a diet, so educating yourself before you begin is important.
I encourage you to stay curious about dietary changes that could improve your energy, health and sense of vibrancy. If you’ve never tried a gluten-free diet, perhaps the month to August is a good time to practice this, noticing how it makes you feel. Many people report improvements in mood and noticeable reduction of aches and pains on elimination diets, while also losing weight. If you have health concerns you’d like to get a handle on, then perhaps that is an approach you can explore.
If you’re looking for a boost to your metabolism to optimize fat burning while shedding belly fat, then you may want to consider including some fat-burning foods in your diet and practicing some metabolism-boosting habits in your life. These few changes may be all you need to feel and look your best.
If you’ve been overindulging this summer and the effects are leaving you feeling bloated and uncomfortable, then perhaps what you need is to engage a few detoxification practices to help you reclaim your energy and vitality. Just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean you can’t do a little Spring cleaning.
Feeling pretty good about how you’re eating and taking care of your body but looking for a little enhancement? Then you may want to consider adding tea to your diet to help you get the results you’re after.
Half the challenge of weight management is mental. You have to get your head in the game first, so taking time to prepare is important.
Do a little research and assess which approach is practical and sustainable for you. Don’t start something you can’t finish. Abandoning your efforts mid stream can contribute to feelings of frustration and failure that can lead you back to the Chips Ahoy. Instead, be thoughtful. Decide what’s the most practical first step, figure out what you need and then stock your kitchen with the essentials. From there, plan ahead so you know what you’ll eat each day. This will help keep you from having to make decisions once you are already hungry.
No matter where you are with your eating and lifestyle habits, there is always room for improvement. Weight management and healthy living are lifelong endeavors akin to marathons, not short sprints. Making a single change in the direction of health can have a ripple effect that can enhance your wellbeing across the board.
I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever followed advice from my videos that has helped you either lose weight or has enhanced your health? If so, what was it and what was the result? I’d love to hear in the comments below, so do drop me a note and let me know.
Wishing you a healthy, happy and love filled week!
