Good morning and happy Monday!
I have to admit, the minute I turned 50 I began noticing mild, transient changes to my body. One day my thumb hurts for no particular reason, the next day it’s my calf. Another frustration is that despite how careful I am with my diet and exercise, weight management is a whole new game, forcing me to work harder while reducing my intake to stay the same.
The worst symptom though, has been disruptive sleep. Sometimes it’s great, other times it’s awful even though I’ve done nothing different from the day before. I never appreciated sleep more than I do now.
Getting restful, restorative sleep is one of THE most important elements to a healthy life. When we sleep we let go of the stressors and anxieties of a day in order to wake refreshed and renewed for the demands of a new day. During sleep we balance our hormone levels and inflammatory markers, allow our bodies natural bio-rythmns to support a healthy metabolism and stabilize our blood pressure. In short, sleep is an anti-aging necessity and without it, we can create disruptive patterns that can lead to illness that can affect our longevity and quality of life.
Melatonin is a supplement that many people turn to in order to get more sleep. But did you know that your body makes melatonin naturally and that some of the habits you might be engaging in may be keeping you from making enough to support a good night’s sleep?
In today’s Motivational Monday I am going to share with you the habits that could be depleting Melatonin in your body and how to boost it naturally, before turning to supplementation. You’ll learn about one habit that you are probably engaging in night after night that is keeping you from creating the melatonin you need for quality sleep. You’ll also learn what foods to include in your diet to help you boost melatonin production.
As always, I’d love to hear your feedback. Do you struggle with sleeplessness? Have you tried melatonin? And would you be willing to try the natural options and lifestyle changes necessary to help your body boost melatonin naturally? Let me know in the comments below.
Wishing you a great Monday and a happy week!
