Spices to Control Your Holiday Cravings!

Just 11 days from a new year, we are heading into the very heart of holiday season. By now you may be feeling out of sorts with all the eating and drinking opportunities this time of year provides, thinking ahead to New Years day when you can begin to regain control again. But don’t throw in the towel just yet! There is so much you can do right now to stabilize your blood sugar and appetite so that the next 10 days aren’t a free for all.

If you watched my video on habits to stabilize your blood sugar, you’ll know that a stable blood sugar is the key to controlling appetite and cravings. If this is out of whack from too many desserts or helpings of bread, you are going to struggle to regain control. That’s why when we start eating desserts, it’s hard to stop.

But getting your blood sugar back on track isn’t difficult and only requires a few key shifts in your habits, as you will see when you check out the archived video. But I have another helpful video today that will also help to get you to your goal.

Today I am going to share with you some spices you can include in your diet to help control cravings. Whether it’s sugar or salt cravings, you likely have a spice in your cupboard that can be helpful. Additionally, some of these spices also aid in digestion and fat burning, so tune in so you can learn how to best use them for maximum benefit.

In addition, you can also check out foods you can eat and supplements you can take to stabilize your blood sugar. These videos were posted a while back but can be very helpful right now. You can still enjoy the delicious foods of the holidays but if you engage the tips in all of these videos, one event won’t throw you off track for days.

Chai Spiced Tea

Ingredients

  • 3 parts cinnamon
  • 1 part turmeric
  • 1 part cardamon pods
  • 1 part fennel seeds
  • 1 part whole cloves
  • Grated ginger

Directions

  • Mix all but the ginger in a mortar and pestle, crushing the spices and blending them well.
  • Bring water to a boil in a quart pot. Grate about 2 inches of fresh ginger and add to the pot and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes. Strain and use this as a base to make your tea.
  • Steep an English Breakfast Tea in hot ginger water in a nice big mug. Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of spice mixture. Add hot vanilla, unsweetened almond milk and enjoy!
