The Surprising Benefits of Lysine

Happy Monday everyone—I hope you are all smiling today!

Speaking of smiles, there’s nothing like a cold sore to get in the way of your radiant smile. A viral infection that can erupt in moments of stress or weaker immunity, cold sores are a common scourge for many people out there.

Yet there is a nutrient that can help lessen the severity and frequency of a cold sore. It can also help prevent recurring outbreaks, and that nutrient is Lysine.

Modern medicine treats cold sores with anti-virals, which definitely work. But perhaps you would prefer to manage yours naturally? If so, you’ll want to check out today’s video. I will be discussing the importance of adequate Lysine in the body, how much you need and the best food sources to get it.

Lest you think that Lysine is only an antiviral nutrient, then you will be surprised to learn it’s many other benefits. Watch the video and learn how Lysine can enhance fat burning and healthy skin and hair.

But there is an important guideline with regard to taking Lysine for maximum absorption that you need to know… watch the video to find out.

Once you’ve tuned in, I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever taken Lysine for a cold sore or any other reason? If so, I’d love to hear what the results were for you in the comment below. How much did you take and what were the results? I’d love to hear your feedback.

As always, it is a privilege to be with you on Monday mornings. I hope you have an amazing week!

    Hi Barb,

Does lysine fight/help with ALL viruses? Can it help with autoimmune disorders with which viral exposure is postulated as one if the causes?

    Thank you!

      Hi Diane~
Lysine helps to reduce viral load no matter what the virus and is helpful as part of a protocol to keep viral activity under control. With auto-immune conditions the main focus though should be on gut health in order to help improve immune function overall….
I have videos in the archives about gut health that you might find helpful.
      Best to you~

Im looking to combine these into my diet , but am looking for some guidance on how much we should put into our diet on a daily basis . Should i use Liquid forms , or should i get them individually in pill form . What if i want to stack these on a daily basis .? I heard I could eat 2 raw eggs for a lot mg of Arginine , is this healthy ?

      Hi Rob~

I can’t speak to what you should be doing individually since I know nothing about your history or medical background, but what I will do is put this on a list of video ideas to discuss in a broad way down the road. If you need specific guidance, you should speak to a local nutritionist or your doctor to see if they can help you~

Keep in mind that amino acids are proteins, so any liver or kidney issues should be considered before using.

I can personally attest that Lysine works! I have genital herpes, and in the beginning my doctors naturally prescribed the usual meds…I believe one was Acyclovir?…and there was another as well. But at some point I decided to try the more natural route, and that’s when I heard about Lysine.

Mind you, when I was on the other meds, if I did not take them, I’d get outbreaks 1-2 times per month. So clearly I’m the type who would continue to get outbreaks if I did not take my meds.

So I tried the Lysine, and it was just as effective in controlling my outbreaks. I confess that sometimes I get lazy and don’t take the Lysine, and when that happens the outbreaks inevitably come back. Once I start up again on the Lysine, they stop. So to me it’s irrefutable. Lysine works! And no side effects. 😉
